About Faseni
Technology has been a journey of continuous learning.
I’m Faseni Fakoya, a technology professional and leader with more than 15 years of experience across different areas of the IT industry.
My career has taken me through systems administration, technical support, software engineering, performance engineering, data, information security and leadership.
Working across these different disciplines has shaped my view of technology leadership.
I believe technology leaders increasingly need to understand more than one specialised area. They need to understand how engineering, infrastructure, security, data, product, operations and business objectives interact.
The journey
From Technology Specialist to Technology Leader
I started my career closer to infrastructure and technology operations before moving through IT support and software engineering into engineering leadership.
Each stage of that journey gave me a different perspective.
Infrastructure taught me about systems.Support taught me about users.Software engineering taught me about building.Performance engineering taught me about scale, resilience and risk.Data taught me about evidence and decision-making.Information security strengthened my understanding of governance and organisational risk.Leadership brought those disciplines together.
Today, I am particularly interested in leading multidisciplinary technology teams and helping organisations make better technology decisions.
